Hyperactivity of the facial muscles of expression often results in the development of deep frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet lines. Injecting botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) temporarily paralyses these muscles which cause wrinkles, giving the face a more relaxed appearance. The wrinkles become smoother or can disappear altogether. BOTOX® is a prescription only drug and should only be administered by a qualified doctor. In cosmetic medicine only very small doses of BOTOX® are given and it is generally a very safe and effective treatment.
Perlane, Restylane and Restylane Fine Lines
These are all pure, Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, products. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance which plays an important role in binding water and giving volume to the skin. As we get older the amount acid decreases and the skin loses water increases the development of wrinkles and fine lines. Age-related lines around the nose mouth and lips can be smoothed using combinations of these products. The difference between each of these products is the size of the gel particle. These products are all clear gels which are administered by a series of superficial injections into the dermis of the skin. They can be used to smooth wrinkles and folds, shape facial contours and sculpture the lips. The effects are instantaneous and last for several months.
Juvéderm® ULTRA
Juvéderm® ULTRA contains Lidocaine, a built in local anaesthetic to make the whole injection process a more comfortable experience.
Juvéderm® ULTRA is one of the latest injectable fillers to soften folds and reduce wrinkles in the face. Juvéderm® ULTRA's main use is removing nasolabial folds (smile lines) creases of skin which run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. It is also used as a lip augmentation agent, and to fill in hollow places and scars on the face.
After treatment, the lines on your face should appear minimised and smoothed out. For lip enhancement, you'll notice that your lips appear fuller and more defined. For adding volume to your cheeks, you will notice that your cheeks look plumper, and your face looks younger. And, your results will last - the effects of treatment with the Juvéderm® ULTRA range of products have been shown to last up to 12 months!
Evolence, Sculptra, Radiesse & Belotero
Evolence is a collagen based filler. It uses glycomatrix technology and combines pure collagen and natural sugar agents linked with proteins, so that it mimics the natural bonds and behaviour of the skin's collagen. Because Evolence is porcine based it is the closest filler to our own collagen, which is also why porcine skin, tendons, valves and collagen have been used successfully in medicine, most commonly in heart valve transplants and skin grafts. The effects are instantaneous and, on average, last for 12 months. There have been no reported allergic reactions to this collagen filler.
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid which is placed in the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer and is ideal for increasing the volume of depressed areas caused by ageing, deep folds and wrinkles, scars, volume defects (lipoatrophy) and contour enhancement. The effects of Sculptra can last for up to 2 years. The Sculptra results start to notice approximately 6 weeks after the first treatment and continue to progress during the following few months. Two or three Sculptra treatments over a four to six week interval is recommended.
Radiesse is an injectable implant, composed of calcium hydroxylapatite particles which are suspended in an aqueous gel. It initially acts as a filler but due to its collagen-generating properties, it can stimulate new tissue development for effects that last from 12 - 24 months. It can be used in many different areas of the face including the chin, jaw, nose and cheeks.
Belotero is a new hyaluronic acid filler which utilises Cohesive Polydensified Matrix technology. It gives good viscosity and elasticity so that it integrates homogenously into the skin for a smooth, natural and revitalised appearance. It is of natural origin therefore no allergy testing is required and is particularly useful for fine lines.
Botox for Hyperhydrosis – Underarm Sweats
Hyperhydrosis means excessive sweating. Sweating is one of the most important ways in which the body loses heat, however, people with Hyperhydrosis produce sweat in amounts far greater than needed to control their temperature. Botox is recommended for the treatment of auxiliary Hyperhydrosis and when small doses are injected into the armpit area, Botox blocks the actions of the nerves that supply the echini glands, preventing the glands from producing sweat. The effects of the treatment last for several months, typically four to seven, before a repeat treatment is necessary.
Please phone for cosmetic clinic times/days. Due to insurance rules, please refrain from bringing children under the age of 10 into the clinic without the prior approval from the management. |
