Active acne is diagnosed by the presence of papules or pustules, which are caused by an infection of the skin with the bacteria Propionibacterium Acnes. Acne occurs as a result of four main factors: hormones, increased sebum production, changes in the follicle and bacteria. Hormonal imbalances can cause the skin to produce more sebum that is of a thicker and sticker nature. This leads to a build up of the horny layer of the skin and clogging around the pores and follicles.

Nora-Bode’s Anti Acne programme
Using the latest in biotechnology the Bode Oxyjet dramatically reduces acne by fighting the bacteria associated with it, thereby restoring hormonal balance. This unique Oxyjet treatment uses three techniques to stop acne in its tracks. They are Oxycrystal Microdermabrasion, Oxyspray and Oxyaroma, these three oxygen based procedures lift impurities, remove dead skin and excess sebum, heal any inflammations and provide the skin with active ingredients that reduce sebum production and control the Propionibacterium acne (P. Acne) bacteria which causes acne. This treatment consists of:
Cleansing – Skin is cleansed with a Nora Bode cleanser suitable to your skin type.
Toning – Tone the skin with Oxyjet’s Skin Refiner Tonic. This mild toner is alcohol free and contains fruit acids to stimulate the skin. It also helps to release any build up of sebum and to prevent inflammations as its natural plant extracts have soothing, anti-bacterial and calming properties, making it ideal for acne prone skin.
Peeling – The area to be treated is covered with a thick layer of Enzyme Exfoliating Cream and which is left to work for about 15 minutes. This product contains protease to gently dissolve the build up of cells on the horny layer and Vitamin E to leave the skin smooth and feeling refreshed. On highly sensitive skin this stage may be omitted until a few treatments into the course when skin has begun to calm.
Microdermabrasion with Oxygen – Enzyme exfoliating Cream is thoroughly removed and a fast and gentle microdermabrasion is carried out.
Oxyspray – Oxygen and Acne Fluid are sprayed onto the skin for 15minutes working in small circular movements. The Oxygen is anti-inflammatory and works to heal and regenerate the skin. The Acne Fluid contains the active ingredients such as Sopholiance extracted from Wheat and Rape Seed. This is able to suppress the formation of the P.Acne bug.
Oxyaroma – Apply a Collagen and Aloe Vera compress mask to help the Acne Fluid penetrate the skin. Whilst the mask is working on the skin you are left to relax for 15 minutes and, for face treatments you inhale oxygen mixed with an essential oil of choice.
Application of Homecare – The Collagen mask is removed and Oxyjet Anti Acne Serum applied. This serum also contains Sopholiance to combat acne by reducing the amount of P acne you can produce and preventing the further formation of acne. Oxyjet Anti-Acne Treatment is completed by applying the Anti-Acne Cream. The hi-tech formula contains Cyclodextrin, a starch extract that locks up multi-unsaturated fatty acids preventing the formation of acne.
With Oxyjet Anti-Acne Treatment you should see dramatic results within ten sessions and achieve a significant reduction in acne or acne scarring on the face and body. For maximum results use homecare products twice daily on affected areas between treatments.
Intense Pulsed Light
Using the Lynton Laser IPL machine, pulsed light to kill the bacteria that produces the inflammation associated with acne - Propionibacterium Acnes, or P. acnes. Porphyrins are naturally occurring molecules that reside alongside the P.Acne bacteria in the infected pore. Porphyrins are photosensitive and light of certain colours can cause the release of oxygen from this molecule which destroys the anaerobic P.acnes bacteria.
Successful treatment often incorporates the use of a microdermabrasion prior to Intense Pulsed Light treatment. This exfoliates the dead skin cells that together with the sebum block the pores and cause the pustules, and helps the light penetrate the skin.
This procedure generally requires no special pre-treatment care with the exception that you must avoid sunbathing or Sunbeds for 2 weeks prior to treatment commencing. You will be required to wear eye protectors and the treatment will take 15 to 45 minutes depending on the area treated.
A specific number of treatments cannot be guaranteed, as acne is a complicated condition with physiological and psychological components, however most clients achieve a significant reduction in the severity and frequency of pustule outbreaks following a course of six treatments.
